Candace Owens claims Israelis carried out 9/11 attacks

Online conspiracy theorist Candace Owens denies Muslim terrorists were involved in the 2001 terror attacks in New York and Washington, claims perpetrators were  Israelis.

Far-right pundit and online influencer Candace Owens has again raised questions regarding the 9/11 attacks in 2001, this time claiming that the terrorist plot that killed about 3,000 people was not carried out by a Saudi-led cell of Islamist terrorists but was in fact committed by Israelis.

During the latest episode of her podcast, which debuted Wednesday, Owens mocked what she dubbed the “muggle edition” of history – a reference to the Harry Potter franchise – regarding the September 11, 2001, Al Qaeda terror attacks during which 19 terrorists hijacked four passenger planes and crashed them into the Pentagon and the World Trade Center.

Owens claimed, without providing evidence, that the attacks were not carried out by “super duper evil Muslims,” but by Israelis.

“Let’s recap the ‘muggle edition’ of what we were told. Okay, the ‘muggle edition’ goes like this. On September 11, 2001, some super duper evil Muslims known to most of us now as Israelis hijacked some planes and drove them into the Pentagon…also the Twin Towers.

“We were told that this was executed by the Saudis. They had hijacked the plane. How did we know? Well, because one of them was kind enough so as to conveniently drop off his passport on the sidewalk to make sure that we knew that it was them that was getting away with these super deep, super duper evil crimes.”

Indeed, 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi nationals, with two others identified as citizens of the United Arab Emirates, one a Lebanese national and one Egyptian.

A 20th member of the plot, Zacarias Moussaoui, was born in France to Moroccan parents. He was arrested a month before the attacks.

This is not the first time Owens has peddled 9/11-related conspiracy theories, questioning the reason for the collapse of Building 7 of the World Trade Center and suggesting the US had foreknowledge of the impending attacks.

However, in a September 2024 interview with Sean Plunket, she appeared to dismiss claims that the attacks were part of a “Jewish conspiracy” or a “Zionist conspiracy.”
