Charlie Kirk’s widow skips event, citing ‘very serious’ death threats

Erika Kirk’s forced withdrawal from a major Turning Point USA event reflects “the state of the country,” a spokesman for the organization said.

Erika Kirk, the widow of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, withdrew from a major Turning Point USA event this week after receiving “very serious threats” to her life.

Kirk, who became CEO of Turning Point USA following her husband’s assassination in September 2025, had been scheduled to appear Tuesday at an event in Georgia alongside Vice President JD Vance. However, she did not attend.

Addressing the audience, Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet said Kirk withdrew “because she has received some very serious threats in her direction.” He described her absence as “a terrible reflection on the state of reality and the state of the country,” adding that far-left extremists had made “part-time jobs out of attacking Erika.”

Kolvet stressed that Kirk “has to live with this constant reality that her kids are one parent away from being orphans,” and said the organization takes those threats “extremely seriously.”

Vance, who was a close friend of Charlie Kirk, echoed those concerns, saying Erika Kirk has endured “two separate living hells” since her husband’s killing. He noted she is not only raising her young children alone but has also been targeted by conspiracy theorists who falsely claim she was involved in her husband’s death.

“The response to Charlie Kirk getting assassinated by a left-wing assassin,” Vance said, “should have been, let’s go after left-wing violence and terrorism.” Instead, he added, “everybody is attacking her over everything, and they’re lying about her, and it’s one of the most disgraceful things that I’ve ever seen in public life.”

Authorities arrested Tyler Robinson, 22, days after the shooting. According to reports, Robinson allegedly confessed in text messages to a romantic partner who identifies as transgender. He reportedly said he carried out the killing because he had grown tired of Kirk’s “hatred,” presumably referring to the activist’s conservative political beliefs.
