Israel rejects the “indiscriminate targeting” narrative, saying it does not deliberately target journalists and that combat zones carry inherent risk.

Dave Chappelle is taking heat after a new Netflix special in which he dismissed criticism over performing at a Saudi comedy festival by pivoting to Israel and Gaza.
In the set, he referenced Jamal Khashoggi’s murder, then claimed Israel has killed “240 journalists” in recent months.
That figure is not supported by major press-freedom trackers.
The Committee to Protect Journalists’ running tally says it has documented at least 249 journalists and media workers killed across the broader Israel-Gaza war theaters since Oct. 7, including 206 Palestinians killed in Gaza, while also stressing it is investigating additional cases.
Israel rejects the “indiscriminate targeting” narrative, saying it does not deliberately target journalists and that combat zones carry inherent risk, while it strikes military targets and operatives.
The reality is also messier than the slogans: Hamas and PIJ have repeatedly blurred civilian lines, and Israel has publicly released material alleging some Gaza-based media personnel were also terrorists, including a high-profile case involving Al Jazeera staff.
