Corbyn bashes Israel ahead of London march, silent on Palestinian rocket attacks

Corbyn praised an anti-Israel march in London on Saturday in a statement in which he slammed the Jewish state and made no specific mention of the deadly rocket attack by Palestinian terrorists last week.

U.K. Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn released a statement on Saturday offering support for the National Demonstration for Palestine in London, an event that featured the popular “from the river to the sea” chant, which envisions the complete elimination of the Jewish state.

In his statement, Corbyn condemned “ongoing human rights abuses by Israeli forces,” referring obliquely to “last week’s escalation of violence” without any specific mention of the unprovoked rocket onslaught launched by Palestinian terror groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

Over the course of a three-day period last week, Gaza-based terrorists killed four Israeli civilians and destroyed locations such as kindergartens using missiles launched from the coastal enclave.

Corbyn also castigated what he referred to as “the illegal occupation and settlement of Palestinian land” referring to “multiple human rights abuses faced by Palestinians on a daily basis.” He vowed that “a Labour government will recognize a Palestinian state.”

The U.K. Labour Party and Corbyn individually have faced persistent accusations of rampant anti-Semitism within the party and personal animus directed at Jews.

Most recently, it came to light that Corbyn wrote the forward to the latest edition of a book called “Imperialism: A Study” by J. A. Hobson, a viciously anti-Semitic work that blames Jewish “financiers” for many of the world’s problems.

The march in London endorsed by Corbyn was led by Ahed Tamimi, who was jailed for assaulting an Israeli soldier. Tamimi and her family have a long history of attempting to provoke Israeli security forces into filmed confrontations, which they use for anti-Israel propaganda.
