Zohran Mamdani’s lead in next week’s NYC election shrinks as polls show Cuomo leading with Jewish and non-Hispanic white voters.

The vast majority of Jewish voters in New York City oppose frontrunner Zohran Mamdani in next week’s mayoral election, according to a new poll, which shows Mamdani’s lead over former Governor Andrew Cuomo shrinking.
While Mamdani still holds a double-digit lead in the latest polls, his margin over Cuomo has shrunk over the past few weeks.
In August, an AARP poll found the state assemblyman topping Cuomo by a whopping 19 points – 42% to 23% – with Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa in third place at 17%.
The latest AARP poll, however, conducted on October 14th and 15th, showed Mamdani with a lead of just 14 points over Cuomo, 43% to 29%.
Two newer polls show Mamdani’s lead declining to just 10 points.
A poll by Quinnipiac released on Wednesday shows Mamdani with 43% of the vote, down from 46% in early October, while his lead over Cuomo declined from 13 points to 10.
Polling by Suffolk also showed Mamdani with a 10-point lead, 44% to 34%, marking a 10-point drop compared to their previous poll, conducted in mid-September, which showed Mamdani with a 20-point lead.
Broken down by ethnic group, Cuomo now holds a narrow lead among non-Hispanic whites, the Quinnipiac poll found, while leading comfortably with Jewish voters.
One-third of black voters, 39% of white voters, 30% of Hispanic voters, and 22% of Asian voters say they plan to vote for the former governor, compared to 48% of black voters, 34% of white voters, 43% of Hispanics, and 61% of Asians who said they back Mamdani.
Jews were the religious group least likely to support the frontrunner, with just 16% of Jews backing Mamdani in the poll, with 60% favoring Cuomo and 12% saying they will vote for Sliwa.
Cuomo holds modest leads among Protestant Christians (44%) and Catholics (33%), while Mamdani has the backing of the overwhelming majority of voters with no religion (71%) and those in the “other” category (50%).
