Draft of Iran-US agreement obtained – report

According to the draft, the United States would agree to withdraw from the Strait of Hormuz and lift the naval blockade imposed on Iran.

By World Israel News Staff

Iranian media outlets are reporting that an unofficial draft of a proposed memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States has been obtained, outlining a possible framework for easing tensions in the Persian Gulf and reopening maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the reported draft, the United States would agree to withdraw from the Strait of Hormuz and lift the naval blockade imposed on Iran. In exchange, Tehran would commit to restoring commercial shipping traffic through the strategic waterway to pre-crisis levels within one month.

The reported agreement does not apply to military vessels.

Iranian reports state that maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz would be managed by Iran in coordination with Oman, signaling a possible regional role in implementing and monitoring the arrangement.

The reported framework also states that if a final agreement is reached within 60 days, the deal could be formalized through a binding United Nations Security Council resolution.

According to the reports, the proposed arrangement, referred to as the “Islamabad Memorandum,” has not yet been finalized. Iranian officials insist Tehran will not take any concrete steps without what was described as “tangible verification” of the understandings reached with Washington.
