Hamas violations of Gaza ceasefire lead to rare demonstration of unity between Opposition parties and members of Netanyahu’s coalition government.

Israeli political leaders across the political spectrum called Sunday for the IDF to respond to Hamas’ latest attacks with a “decisive” military response.
In a rare demonstration of unity, members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ruling right-wing coalition government were joined by leaders of Opposition parties in advocating for a resumption of hostilities against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
On Sunday morning, Hamas terrorists fired multiple anti-tank missiles at an IDF force, including an armored personnel carrier, in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
In addition, Hamas snipers opened fire on Israeli positions, while a group of terrorists attempted to infiltrate into IDF-controlled territory in northern Gaza.
Israeli warplanes, drones, naval vessels, and artillery pieces responded with intense fire directed at the attacking Hamas forces.
Hours after the attack, Minister Orit Strook (Religious Zionist Party) called for Israel to resume hostilities against Hamas.
“Hamas’s attack on our forces in Rafah is not a ‘violation of the agreement,'” said Strook. “Not even a ‘significant violation.’ It is a declaration in action, in the clearest possible way, that there is no agreement. The war must be renewed, and it must be decisively concluded!”
“This deal is blowing up in our faces,” said rightist MK and coalition partner Yitzhak Kroizer. “When you show weakness, you get taken. You only speak to terrorists with fire and smoke signals. Resume the war until Hamas is destroyed and the last captive is returned!”
Yair Golan, a former deputy minister who leads the left-wing The Democrats party, took to X to call for a “decisive” response to the Hamas violations of the Gaza ceasefire.
“Hamas’ attack in Gaza demands a resolute response – only this way are the rules of the game set,” Golan wrote.
Golan also called for the establishment of a “moderate alternative” to Hamas in Gaza to govern the coastal enclave after the war as a long-term solution to the conflict. “Absolute victory in the Gaza Strip requires building a moderate alternative government to Hamas – an issue that the government has abandoned and chosen absolute failure.”
Former Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, head of the Israel Beytenu party and an Opposition MK, called for a policy of “zero tolerance” following the violations of the ceasefire deal.
“In the Middle East, there is one language – strength. A true iron wall policy. Zero cracks, zero tolerance. Hamas pushes the boundaries because someone allows it,” Liberman said.
“It plays games and delays the return of the abducted hostages, and just a short time ago – violates the ceasefire, firing at IDF forces with the intent to harm our heroic soldiers. The only response to terror and Hamas is strength. Force. An iron wall!”
