Palestinian terrorists in Gaza fired at least one rocket at Israeli civilians over the weekend. No injuries or damage was reported. The IAF retaliated by attacking a Hamas terror target.
Terrorists in Gaza fired a rocket at Israel’s civilian population on Friday. The rocket landed in an open area, causing no damage or injuries. There are report of other rockets that were launched towards Israel, but they landed inside the Gaza Strip.
In response, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) attacked a Hamas terror target in Gaza. The IDF reported accurate hits. Hamas said one of its facilities was hit and two of its members were lightly hurt.
IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner stated that “multiple rockets” had been fired at Israel from Gaza this month alone and warned that “Hamas must fulfill its responsibilities or face the consequences.”
Israel holds Gaza’s Hamas rulers responsible for all attacks emanating from the territory under its control.
The past several weeks sharp increase in rocket attacks from Gaza.
On Thursday night, three rockets were fired at Israel, but they exploded inside Gaza near the border fence.
Two rockets fired from Gaza at Israel late last Saturday night landed near the border fence, causing no damage or injuries.
Israeli analysts explain that the rockets are domestically made and, therefore, fall short of their targets and are inaccurate.
Gaza terrorists affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) terror group claimed responsibility for the attack. They have been criticizing Hamas for not imposing strict religious law in Gaza.
Last month, an ISIS-affiliated group fired three rockets into southern Israel from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. In that attack, too, no one was hurt and there was no damage.
Some analysts believe the rocket fire at Israel is part of an internal power struggle between the ISIS-linked terror group and the Hamas terror organization, which rules the Gaza Strip.
