GHF concludes Gaza food mission as international groups prepare to take over

The organization distributed more than 3 million food boxes and moved thousands of tons of vegetables into Gaza.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation announced Monday that it has wrapped up its emergency food mission in Gaza after more than four months of continuous work, saying its team delivered enough supplies to provide 187 million meals to civilians, Arutz Sheva reported.

The group said the operation, designed from the outset as a short-term effort, proved that aid could reach families directly and without being seized by Hamas.

The foundation began operating in the early months of the conflict after US President Donald Trump urged humanitarian groups to establish secure channels that would allow aid to reach Gazans safely.

In response, the GHF built a small network of fortified distribution points staffed by vetted personnel, including former American service members, humanitarian workers, and local residents.

These locations handled daily food lines, with separate lanes for women, children, and older adults to ensure they could receive assistance without obstruction.

Executive Director John Acree said in Tel Aviv that the mission had fulfilled its purpose as other international organizations prepare to expand their presence.

“With the creation of the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) and a rejuvenated engagement of the international humanitarian community, the GHF believes that moment has now arrived,” he said.

Acree noted that as conditions stabilized in July, aid sites became gathering places for families looking for safe spaces.

Over the course of the operation, the organization distributed more than 3 million food boxes, moved thousands of tons of vegetables into Gaza, and handed out more than a million packs of nutritional supplements for children suffering from malnutrition.

Medical teams from Samaritan’s Purse were deployed at distribution centers to treat mothers and infants.

US officials credited the program with helping shift the situation on the ground.

State Department Spokesman Tommy Pigott said the organization’s model prevented Hamas from looting food and contributed to recent negotiations.

Although GHF planned to expand beyond its four sites, limited aid supplies and blocked access prevented further growth.

The organization said it is keeping its registration active so it can resume activities if new humanitarian needs emerge.
