Hamas leader: Palestinians’ ‘morale raised’ by Netanyahu indictment

The terror group leader claimed that the Netanyahu announcement inspired “steadfastness” in the Palestinians.

By Associated Press

The leader of the Hamas terror group says the indictment of Israeli Prime Minister raises the Palestinian people’s morale.

Ismail Haniyeh told reporters in Rafah in southern Gaza Strip on Saturday that corruption charges against Netanyahu were a sign “of more steadfastness” for the Palestinians.

The leader of the brutal Islamist group that controls Gaza also said the indictment means more “resistance, both popular and armed.”

On Thursday, Israel’s Attorney General indicted Netanyahu for fraud, breach of trust and accepting bribes, making him the first sitting premier to be charged with a crime.

The longest-serving Israeli leader is scrambling after two inconclusive elections this year and possibly an unprecedented third national vote early next year.

The Hamas terror group snatched control of the Gaza Strip from the Palestinian Authority in 2007, mounting a bloody coup that took its toll on both sides.

Hamas rules the coastal enclave with an iron fist, bankrolled by Iran and Qatar, squashing dissent through violence.
