Hezbollah MK: ‘Israel-Lebanon peace negotiations are irrelevant’

A Hezbollah lawmaker said the group would not be bound by any future agreement between Israel and Lebanon.

A Lebanese parliamentarian affiliated with Hezbollah’s political wing said on Sunday that the terror organization would ignore any potential peace agreement between Israel and Lebanon, pledging that the group will continue its fight against the Jewish state.

In recent weeks, U.S. President Donald Trump hosted senior Lebanese and Israeli officials at the White House for historic talks aimed at securing a formal peace agreement between the two countries, which have technically been in a state of war since 1948.

The participation of Lebanese officials in those discussions has drawn sharp criticism from Hezbollah figures, including lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah.

Speaking at an event honoring Hezbollah members killed in the ongoing conflict with Israel, Fadlallah said the terror group would reject any agreements it ideologically opposes.

“These negotiations, regardless of their outcomes, do not concern us, and we will not implement them,” Fadlallah said.

“We represent a free people and a steadfast resistance capable of thwarting the objectives of these negotiations, which increase the sharp division in the country between the factions of our people and within the state itself,” he added.

Fadlallah also emphasized that “any new agreement in Lebanon must guarantee that our country will not be attacked in any way.”

His remarks come amid a fragile ceasefire brokered by the Trump administration between Israel and Hezbollah. Despite the formal truce, hostilities have continued at a lower intensity.

Israel has carried out targeted airstrikes against Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure, while Hezbollah has continued launching explosive drones, rockets, and missiles toward Israeli military positions and communities along the northern border.

Meanwhile, despite a resolution passed by the Lebanese government calling for Hezbollah’s disarmament, the terror group has signaled that it has no intention of laying down its weapons.
