Residents of the northern Israeli border town of Kiryat Shmona have received automated threatening phone calls from Hezbollah, warning them to leave the city immediately.
The recorded messages, which began circulating on today, include statements such as:
“Leave the city, it’s ours.”
“This is a warning. Evacuate the city while you still can. The city belongs to us.”
Some versions reportedly added more menacing language, including threats that Hezbollah would decide residents’ fate upon arrival.
Israeli media outlets, including Channel 15 and i24NEWS, confirmed that multiple residents received the robocalls.
The messages are part of a psychological warfare campaign by the Iran-backed Lebanese terror group.
Kiryat Shmona, located just kilometers from the Lebanon border, has been a frequent target of Hezbollah attacks since October 2023.
Much of the town’s population has already been displaced for extended periods due to rocket fire, drones, and border clashes.
This latest tactic, threatening phone calls, is not new. Hezbollah has used similar psychological operations in the past to sow fear among northern Israeli communities.
Israeli authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the calls, but security sources view them as part of ongoing attempts by Hezbollah to exert pressure amid fragile ceasefire arrangements.
The incident comes as tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border remain high, with Hezbollah attacking Israeli towns and IDF soldiers op[erating in southern Lebanon, against the backdrop of diplomatic efforts to prevent a full-scale return to war.
