Hezbollah’s ranks decimated in war with Israel, according to Saudi report

Some 4,000 Hezbollah terrorists were killed and thousands more deserted during fighting with Israel, according to Saudi report.

The Hezbollah terrorist organization lost thousands of operatives during its war with Israel from October 2023 through November 2024, according to a report by the Saudi Al-Hadath outlet.

The Iranian-backed Lebanese Shi’ite terror group suffered several high-profile losses during its 14-month war with Israel, including then secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in a targeted strike on a Hezbollah compound in Beirut on September 27, 2024.

The terror group’s ranks were also decimated during the war, the Saudi report claimed, with Hezbollah losing roughly 10% of its operatives either killed or deserted and thousands more wounded.

More than 4,000 Hezbollah terrorists were killed, the report said.

In addition, the group lost a net total of 2,000 members via desertion after Nasrallah’s assassination last September.

In total, Hezbollah shrank from 70,000 to 60,000 active members since October 2023, including thousands of operatives who were left severely wounded and unable to return to duty.

However, those figures fail to fully convey the full extent of the damage to Hezbollah’s operational capabilities, the report continued, claiming that most of the group’s heavy and medium weapons were either destroyed by Israel or confiscated by the Lebanese military.

More than 80% of the territory south of the Litani River – which separates southern Lebanon from the rest of the country – is now under the control of the Lebanese army, the report added.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah is said to have shut down most of its training centers in both southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, previously a Hezbollah stronghold in eastern Lebanon.

Hezbollah is also reportedly facing a financial crunch following the war with Israel.

According to a report Wednesday by the Saudi Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Hezbollah has suspended payments to homeowners in the Dahiyeh neighborhood of Beirut whose residences were damaged during the recent war.

Dahiyeh, a predominantly Shi’ite area and a Hezbollah stronghold, was targeted heavily by Israel during the war, including multiple bombings of Hezbollah command and control centers.
