One of the oil refinery workers killed in an Iranian attack on the Bazan Energy Group facility in the early hours of Monday morning was named as Danny Avraham.

The 59-year-old, from the nearby suburb of Kiryat Motzkin, was killed during a missile barrage targeting the site, along with two of his colleagues.

He is survived by his wife Iris, his partner since the age of 16, and two children, according to a report from Hebrew-language news outlet Walla.

Avraham’s two children are currently serving in the IDF.

Kiryat Motzkin Mayor Tziki Avisar eulogized Avraham in a media statement, noting that he had worked in Israel’s energy sector for more than 30 years.

He noted that Avraham continued his essential work at the facility, despite facing “great personal risk” and knowing that the site could be targeted by Iran.

“Danny was a family man in the truest sense of the word,” Avisar said.

“The quiet and modest Avraham family will bear the price of this existential war forever,” he added.

“I met with them this morning and conveyed to them the condolences of the entire city’s residents. The Kiryat Motzkin Municipality will stand by them and support them.”`

In a statement to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange on Monday, the Bazan Energy Group said that “as a result of damage to the facilities, the power plant was significantly damaged, and therefore all of the refinery’s and subsidiary companies’ facilities were shut down.”

Bazan added that it is currently working with Israel’s national electricity provider to resume power to its facility and begin operating once again.

While Hezbollah and other terror groups have long threatened to attack the Bazan facility, whose two large cooling towers are a distinctive part of the Haifa skyline, the Iranian attack is believed to mark the first time the site has been struck during a war.
