On Saturday, IDF aircraft has hit and killed Ahmed Eliakubi, a senior Hamas leader in Rafah, the IDF reports.
Eliakubi provided security services for senior Hamas leaders and is a leading commander in Rafah.
In the airstrike, Iman Rantisi, a Hamas military commander and an additional terrorist were also eliminated.
The IDF is moving towards the south of Gaza to Rafah to discover and destroy Hamas’s military capabilities.
In its military operations, the IDF has eliminated numerous terrorists, including high-ranking leaders within the terror group.
Hamas terrorists who have surrendered have revealed significant information to Shin Bet and in some cases have urged other terrorists to surrender to the IDF.
When Shin Bet asked Hamas Nukhba terror commander known as Abu al-Baraa during interrogation if he had a message for his fellow Hamas fighters, he said, “I recommend everyone surrender, your fate is death.”
Abu al-Baraa told Shin Bet that he and his troops intended to surrender when the IDF entered their tunnel in Khan Younis, even though they were armed with Kalashnikovs, RPGs and improvised explosive devices.
He told Shin Bet, “We came to the decision that we don’t want to fight and as soon as the army comes we will turn ourselves in.”
Abu al-Baraa added, “We sat in the room, we put all the weapons outside, outside the room. And the army came and took all the weapons. We sat and waited. When the army arrived, we raised our hands and surrendered.”
The IDF continues to apply military pressure on Hamas to achieve the “total victory” that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described in his rejection of Hamas’s demands for a complete withdrawal of IDF troops from Gaza in return for the release of hostages.
One Israeli official explained, “The main target now is to create pressure from the Americans and other countries on Qatar, and from there on Hamas, in addition to the military pressure, to bring them down from their delusional demands.”
