IDF arrests suspects, discovers guns in counter-terrorism ops

Israeli forces confiscated Palestinian weapons and arrested suspects linked to terrorism.

IDF forces on Wednesday night carried out counter-terrorism operations throughout Judea and Samaria, during which they arrested terror suspects, seized weapons and returned stolen property.

IDF forces operating in southern Har Hebron uncovered four handguns, military equipment and approximately 2,000 bullets.

The site belongs to a weapons dealer who, together with five other suspects, was apprehended and taken for questioning.

Since the beginning of 2017, Israeli forces have seized over 220 firearms and have shut down some 35 illegal Palestinian weapons production plants.

Israeli forces have arrested more than 160 suspects tied to the production and selling of illegal weapons, used in many cases against Israeli civilians.

Tens of Palestinian terror attacks have been committed using firearms, many of them self-made.

Troops operating in the Palestinian village of Al-Fawar arrested a Palestinian terrorist who is suspected of throwing 24 firebombs at IDF forces in the past month.

In total, Israel’s combined security forces arrested 10 Palestinians for their connections to terrorism.

IDF forces continued their operation to locate and arrest the terrorist who stabbed and murdered Rabbi Itamar Ben Gal on Monday. The terrorist, an Arab with Israeli citizenship named Abed al-Karim Adel Assi, from Jaffa, is still at large.

In related news, Israeli police recovered a herd of sheep stolen by Palestinians form Israelis in the village of Yatta, in the Hebron area. One suspect was arrested.

The herd owner was located and his property was returned.

The police vowed to continue its campaign against agricultural terrorism.
