The IDF is reinforcing forces across Israel’s regional commands and increasing security operations in the Judea and Samaria ahead of Yom Kippur and Sukkot, as the military prepares for the Jewish holidays and an expected increase in visitors.

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir ordered additional troops deployed across the Northern, Central and Southern Commands, along with heightened alert levels and reserve forces that can be activated if needed.

Reinforcement companies have been assigned to each of the three regional commands, while a senior commander will remain present in every sector throughout the holiday period.

Israel’s air force will keep armed aircraft on standby as part of the heightened readiness. The navy is also increasing the presence of missile ships.

Additional reserve companies will remain available for deployment to regional commands if required.

General Staff-level forces have also been placed on alert and assigned to specific sectors as part of the military’s preparations.

Separately, the IDF has expanded security operations in Judea and Samaria ahead of the remaining Jewish holidays.

The Nahal Brigade is conducting what the military described as a focused, large-scale operation aimed at thwarting terrorism across the area.

Nahal troops are operating under the Judea, Menashe, Ephraim and Samaria regional brigades.

About 930 suspects have been questioned in the field during the operation, according to the IDF, while approximately 230 wanted individuals have been arrested.

Troops have also seized and confiscated more than 100 weapons. The weapons recovered during the operation include M-16 rifles, submachine guns and handguns, along with magazines and large quantities of ammunition.
