An IDF reservist was saved by his helmet after a terrorist shot at him directly in the head during an attack on Deir Sharaf near the city of Nablus on Thursday.
In a statement, the IDF reported, “IDF soldiers from the 7037th (Res.) Battalion operating at a military post near Nablus neutralized a terrorist who fired at the force.”
No IDF casualties were reported.
Earlier this week, terrorists shot at a house in Kibbutz Merav in Gilboa close to the Galilee region, and authorities began a search and an investigation to find those responsible.
A month ago, the group Rescuers Without Borders (Hatzalah Judea and Samaria) reported that between October 7th and January, there were 2,600 recorded terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria.
These attacks targeted both IDF soldiers and civilians and included 760 cases of rock-throwing, 551 fire bombings, 12 attempted or successful stabbings and nine vehicular assaults.
There was a significant increase in shootings with 127 incidents involving terrorists with firearms between the beginning of the war and the end of 2023. By comparison, in all of 2022, Hatzalah recorded just under 100 shooting attacks.
The figures don’t include the numerous attacks on counterterrorism security personnel in Judea and Samaria.
Palestinian terrorists have killed five Israelis in Judea and Samaria and wounded many others since Oct. 7, according to Hatzalah.
In early January, an Israeli man was killed in a shooting along Route 465, between the towns of Ofra and Eli in the Binyamin region of Samaria.
Magen David Adom paramedics said the victim, an Arab Israeli man in his 30s, was unconscious and without a pulse when they arrived at the scene.
Earlier that week, two Israelis were wounded in a terrorist stabbing at the Mishor Adumim industrial zone, located east of Jerusalem in Judea.
MDA paramedics treated the victims, both security guards, at the scene before evacuating them, fully conscious and in stable condition, to the capital’s Hadassah Medical Center on Mount Scopus.
