For the second time in a year, the IDF will demolish the house of the terrorist who killed Sgt. Ronen Lubarsky last year.

The home of Islam Naji, the terrorist who killed Lubarsky, was demolished nine months ago but had since been rebuilt by Palestinian Arabs.

Before the first demolition began, the terrorist’s family appealed to the Israeli Supreme Court against the demolition order, but the request was denied.

During the demolition, dozens of Arabs threw rocks and firebombs at the soldiers, who responded with riot dispersal methods. No one was hurt.

On May 26. 2018, a military operation in a Palestinian village near Ramallah was carried out by the elite IDF Duvdevan Unit, which was sent there to arrest suspected terrorists. Rioting broke out during the operation and heavy objects were thrown at the IDF soldiers.

During the skirmish, Naji dropped a heavy marble object on Sgt. Lubarsky’s head. The soldier was immediately rushed to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds two days later.

IDF troops often come under attack when they carry out routine patrols or enter Palestinian towns to arrest suspected terrorists.

Vladimir Lubarsky, Ronen’s father, told Yedioth Ahronoth that it is unfortunate that bereaved families have to beg the authorities to re-demolish a terrorist’s house.

“It is sad that only after the media’s intervention was the disgrace of the rebuilding stopped. I congratulate the IDF and the security forces for the swift action,” he said. “Unfortunately, there are still several terrorist homes that have been rebuilt and not yet demolished and the bereaved families should not have to beg for the demolition to take place.”
