A Palestinian terrorist who lightly injured an IDF soldier in a stabbing attack was shot and wounded in the process.

A Palestinian terrorist stabbed and wounded an IDF soldier at the Gush Etzion Junction on Tuesday.

An IDF spokesman said the terrorist stormed a group of soldiers while wielding a knife. The soldiers called on him to halt, and when he did not heed their warnings, they shot him.

The terrorist sustained moderate wounds to his abdomen and was evacuated to an Israeli hospital in Jerusalem.

A soldier sustained very light wounds during the incident and was treated on the spot.

The Gush Etzion Junction has been the scene of multiple Palestinian terror attacks, several of them lethal. The two most notable incidents were the killing of Hadar Buchris on November 22, 2015, and the shooting of three victims – Israeli educator Yaakov Don; American Jewish teen Ezra Schwartz, and Shadi Arafeh, a 24-year-old Palestinian – on November 19 of that year.

This incident is the latest in a long series of Palestinian terror attacks over the past two years, claiming the lives of 56 victims and wounding some 700.
