An IDF soldier was killed Monday night while doing maintenance work on an APC in the Golan Heights.
IDF Corporal Viacheslav Gregay, 20, was killed in an accident during routine maintenance work on an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) Monday night at an IDF base in the Golan Heights.
The maintenance team was working on the APC’s tracks when Gregay was struck and critically wounded.
After receiving initial treatment by IDF medics, he was evacuated by helicopter to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi, head of the IDF’s Northern Command, has appointed a board of inquiry into the incident, while the Military Police has launched its own investigation.
Gregay’s comrades described him as a warm and good friend who was always first to volunteer and extend help when needed.
He will be buried in his hometown of Rishon Lezion.
