IDF soldiers who attempted to release Israelis arrested by Border Policemen during a protest in Judea and Samaria on Saturday night were suspended pending an investigation.

An IDF spokesman stated Sunday that the incident occurred as some 50 Israelis demonstrated in Beit El over the security situation. Border Police arrested three Israelis suspected of allegedly throwing rocks at Arab houses.

After the arrest, two IDF soldiers serving in the area attempted to release the three detainees, the army said. A confrontation ensued, after which the officers transferred the two soldiers to their commanders’ custody.

The soldiers remain suspended until an investigation of the incident by IDF and Border Police commanders is completed.
