The IDF struck a terrorist cell that launched incendiary balloons towards Israel from the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday.

The IDF also attacked two additional terrorist cells located in Dir al-Balah, according to Ynet.

According to a statement released by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, one strike was carried out by an “Israeli Air Force vehicle against a Hamas terrorist squad.”

At least three major fires have been ignited by kites or balloons launched from Gaza that carry incendiary materials, often a cigarette tied to a rag dipped in fuel. Fires were reported in Yad Mordechai and Or HaNer. One day earlier rockets and mortar fire were launched from Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip in the hundreds.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday said that Israel will not tolerate the phenomenon.
