IDF targets Hezbollah weapons routes on Syria border

The IDF said Israeli jets struck four border crossings along the Syria-Lebanon border near Hermel.

Israel carried out a series of airstrikes on Hezbollah weapons-smuggling infrastructure and killed two senior terrorists tied to the group’s procurement networks on Wednesday, according to the IDF.

The military said Israeli Air Force jets targeted four border crossings in the Hermel region along the Syria-Lebanon border, describing the sites as key routes used to move weapons into Lebanon. The strikes, the IDF said, were intended to disrupt Hezbollah’s smuggling corridors.

In a separate operation, the IDF said it killed Muhammad Awad’a near Sidon, identifying him as a major weapons trader and smuggler for Hezbollah.

According to the military, Awad’a oversaw arms transfers for the group through a front company that ordered and shipped restricted goods from several countries, including Iraq, Syria, and Gulf states. He was also accused of running networks that moved weapons from Iraq through Syria and into Lebanon.

The IDF also reported killing Abu Ali Salama, a Hezbollah liaison officer in the southern Lebanese village of Yanouh.

The military said Salama helped Hezbollah establish infrastructure inside civilian areas and private property and was involved in efforts to prevent enforcement action against a weapons depot in the village.

According to the IDF, after Israel requested the site be addressed on December 13, 2025, Salama was notified by the Lebanese army and relayed the warning to Hezbollah, enabling terrorists to obstruct enforcement and remove the weapons before the location could be cleared.

The military said it will continue operations aimed at preventing Hezbollah from rebuilding its capabilities and eliminating threats to Israel.
