IDF tells residents of south to return to normal despite shaky Gaza ceasefire

The IDF gave an all-clear to residents of communities adjacent to Gaza even though rockets were fired from the Strip after a supposed ceasefire was declared.

The IDF Home Front Command called off emergency restrictions on residents living in the south of Israel adjacent to the Gaza Strip Sunday morning even though terrorist groups in Gaza continued to shoot rockets at Israel after a supposed ceasefire was reached.

The restrictions included a ban on gatherings of large groups of people; a directive to remain at all times within a short distance from a bomb shelter; and the obligation of agricultural workers to coordinate with the IDF before going out to the fields and orchards to work.

These restrictions were imposed on settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip after the most significant uptick in terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip since 2014 Operation Protective Edge.

The IDF said that Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other terrorist groups shot about 200 rockets and mortars at Jewish communities in the south.

The decision to end the restrictions and issue new instructions were put in place even though mortar and rocket fire continued, albeit at a lower rate.

Meanwhile, an unexplained explosion resulted in the deaths of a father and son in Gaza Sunday morning in what Al-Aqsa TV claimed was a “work-related accident” of terrorists.
