In letter to UN chief, all US senators demand end to anti-Israel bias

All 100 members of the US senate signed a letter to the United Nations secretary-general, demanding an end to the UN’s ongoing anti-Israel bias.

“This situation must change,” all 100 US senators, Republicans and Democrats alike, stated in their demand to Guterres to put an end to the UN’s anti-Israel agenda.

“Although, as Democrats and Republicans, we disagree on many issues, we are united in our desire to see the United Nations improve its treatment of Israel and to eliminate anti-Semitism in all its forms,” the letter to UN Secretary-General Antonia Guterres stated.

The letter, authored on Thursday and released the next day, was authored by Marco Rubio (R-FLA).

“Too often, the UN is exploited as a vehicle for targeting Israel,” the letter states, adding that the anti-Israel “actions have at times reinforced the broader scourge of anti-Semitism and distracted certain UN entities from their original missions.”

“We thank our friends in the United States Senate for their unanimous and bipartisan support for Israel,” Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon stated. “Once again, America has stood strongly by Israel, and stood up for truth and justice. It is time to finally put an end to the UN’s biased approach towards Israel.”

Obsession with Israel ‘Makes a Mockery’ of UN Council

Among the suggestions made to change direction was a stop to the denial by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) of the Christian and Jewish ties to Jerusalem. “UNESCO member states must be made to realize that these actions only undermine the credibility of the organization.”

Other issues requiring change, according to the letter, are the role of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), which perpetuates anti-Israel bias and actions; the funding of committees that “serve no purpose other than to attack Israel and to inspire the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement;” and, “most troubling,” the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), which includes some of the world’s worst violators of human rights and whose obsession with Israel “makes a mockery” of the Council.

The signatories praised US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, who recently stated that the “UN’s anti-Israel bias is long overdue for a change.”
