‘Intentional explosion’ rocks Harvard; FBI on the scene as two suspects flee

Boston Police have since released surveillance images showing the pair wearing hooded sweatshirts and facial coverings.

By Jewish Breaking News

Boston authorities and federal investigators are probing an explosion that shook a Harvard Medical School research building on Saturday, prompting a major law enforcement response on the university’s Longwood campus.

The blast occurred shortly before 3 a.m. inside the Goldenson Building, located in the heart of the Longwood Medical Area.

The device, which detonated on the building’s fourth floor, caused limited structural damage but triggered alarms across the area.

Moments after the explosion, two masked individuals were seen sprinting from the building.

A Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) officer attempted to intercept the suspects but was unsuccessful, The Boston Globe reported.

Boston Police have since released surveillance images showing the pair wearing hooded sweatshirts and facial coverings.

Investigators say the footage was captured just before the detonation, and both individuals remain at large.

The Boston Fire Department later confirmed the explosion was deliberate and conducted a full sweep of the premises, finding no additional explosive devices. The building has since been cleared and secured.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has joined the probe alongside Boston Police and campus authorities.

While officials have not yet disclosed a motive or potential target, they have confirmed that the explosion is being treated as a criminal act.

Both the Boston Police Department and FBI declined to comment further, citing the ongoing investigation.

The Harvard University Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

University officials have urged students and staff to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as law enforcement continues to review evidence and interview potential witnesses.
