Iran demands US withdrawal and sanctions relief in ceasefire proposal

Reuters reported that Tehran’s latest proposal was similar to an earlier offer that President Trump rejected last week.

Iran has proposed a package of conditions to end the conflict that includes a rapid withdrawal of US forces from the region, reparations, an end to the war in Lebanon, the lifting of sanctions, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and an end to what Tehran described as a US marine blockade, according to Iranian media reports and statements by senior Iranian officials.

Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi outlined the demands in remarks carried by the IRNA news agency as negotiations continued over Iran’s nuclear program and regional tensions.

President Trump said Monday that leaders from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates had urged him to pause plans for renewed attacks on Iran while diplomatic contacts remained active.

“This Deal will include, importantly, NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS FOR IRAN!” President Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

Trump had previously been preparing what was described as a major military operation against Iran before later announcing that the action had been suspended.

He said the delay was intended to allow time for a diplomatic agreement focused on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Reuters reported that Tehran’s latest proposal was similar to an earlier offer that President Trump rejected last week.

At the same time, Iranian military officials warned that additional attacks on Iran would trigger a broader response.

According to Iran’s state media, Army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said Tehran would expand the conflict if further strikes were carried out.

“If the enemy acts foolishly and once again falls into the trap of the Zionists and carries out another act of aggression against our dear Iran, we will open new fronts against them using new methods and capabilities,” he said.

A separate report by Walla said disagreements over Iran’s nuclear activities remained the primary obstacle in the latest negotiations.

The report said Israeli and American positions did not match Iranian demands and cited assessments that Tehran was attempting to gain time through the talks.

Walla also reported that coordination had taken place with additional Middle Eastern countries in case President Trump approves renewed strikes against Iran.
