Iran says latest conflict with Israel is over, warns against bombing Hezbollah

Israel resumes attacks on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon after Iran warns against bombing the Shi’ite terror group.

Iran said Monday it had ended its latest round of military operations against Israel but warned that any continued Israeli strikes against Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon would bring a harsher response, as President Donald Trump pressed both countries to halt their fire.

Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which coordinates between the Iranian military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said the operation against Israel had concluded.

The statement described the missile fire as retaliation for Israeli operations in southern Lebanon and Beirut’s Dahiyeh district, a Hezbollah stronghold.

“Following the acts of aggression and evil by the cruel Zionist regime in southern Lebanon and in the Dahiyeh area, which were carried out with the support of criminal America, Iran’s armed forces delivered a painful response to this regime, as part of support for the oppressed Lebanese people,” the Iranian command said.

The statement said Israel and its backers should “learn a lesson” from the response, while adding that “the operation by the armed forces is hereby declared concluded.”

But Iran paired the announcement with a warning.

“It should be emphasized that in the event of continued acts of aggression and evil, including in southern Lebanon, far harsher and more crushing measures than before are on the way,” the command said.

The pause was announced after Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone for the second time in less than 24 hours, according to an Israeli source cited by CNN.

The call took place before Iran said it was suspending its operation. It was not immediately clear what the two leaders discussed, and Netanyahu had not publicly commented on the latest Iran escalation.

Trump publicly called for an immediate halt to the exchange.

“Israel and Iran must immediately stop ‘shooting,’” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

In a follow-up post, he said both sides were seeking a ceasefire but warned that diplomacy could still be derailed.

“Both sides, Israel and Iran, are looking to do an immediate CEASEFIRE! Final negotiations on ‘Peace’ are proceeding, subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in its way. The Blockade will remain in place, and in full force and effect, until a ‘Final Deal’ is reached. Things should move quickly,” Trump wrote.

Israel has not accepted Iran’s attempt to link the Iranian front to Israel’s operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The Prime Minister’s Office told government ministers Monday that Israel “will not accept the regime in Tehran’s attempt to create a new equation” in which Israeli strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut are answered with Iranian attacks on Israeli population centers, according to an Israeli official cited by CNN.

“We will continue to operate throughout Lebanon, as required, to remove the Hezbollah terror threat to our citizens,” the message said.

The IDF said Iran fired 22 missiles at Israel, along with two missiles launched from Yemen. IDF spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said Iran had violated a two-month ceasefire by firing at Israel and said the military was prepared for several days of fighting or more.

Israel responded by striking targets in Iran, including air defense and radar systems, and later a petrochemical facility in southwestern Iran that the IDF said was used to produce raw materials for weapons manufacturing.

Axios reported that a US official said Netanyahu had pushed back against Trump’s request to end the cycle of strikes, and that the United States “didn’t agree or support” Israel’s attacks on Iran.
