Iranian lawmaker calls for kidnapping 100 US troops

The proposal echoes the actions of the Iran-backed Hamas terror group, which kidnapped 251 people from Israel on October 7, 2023.

Iranian member of parliament and former Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Wednesday called for Tehran to invade a US military base in the Middle East, seize 100 American troops and take them to Iran as hostages.

“My proposal is that we launch a ground attack on one of the US bases in the region, capture 100 Americans and bring them to Iran,” Mottaki said, according to Iranian media.

His proposal echoed tactics used by the Iran-backed terrorist group Hamas, which launched a large-scale invasion of Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people and kidnapping 251. Iran provided Hamas with decades of financial, military and tactical support before the attack.

Separately, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps urged people in Kuwait and Jordan to force US troops from military bases in their countries and called for attacks on American facilities, the IRGC-run Fars News Agency reported.

“Honorable and noble people of Kuwait and the holy land of Jordan, it is expected of you, Muslim and noble nations, to expel these child-killers and occupiers from your soil,” the IRGC said.

“The pure soil of the land of Kuwait and the sacred land of Jordan, the sanctuary of the prophets, must not remain under the occupation of criminals who, in just the past two years, have martyred seventy thousand Palestinians, including twenty thousand children, in heroic Gaza and perpetrated the Minab School massacre,” it added.

“We expect you not to miss any opportunity to destroy the aggressive American institutions and to liberate the Islamic lands from the bases of the American occupiers,” the IRGC concluded.

The calls came as Iran targeted US military installations across the Gulf with coordinated barrages of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and one-way attack drones launched directly from its southern coast.
