Iron Dome intercepts more Gaza rockets

Palestinian terrorists appear to be continuing their strategy of indiscriminately, but unsuccessfully, firing rockets into southern Israel.

On Wednesday night, terror groups in the Gaza Strip fired at least one rocket into southern Israel, prompting the Iron Dome air defense battery to shoot down at least one missile, an IDF spokesman said.

According to eyewitnesses, code red sirens sounded at around 8:30 p.m. in the city of Sderot and Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council, as well as in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council.

Three people were treated for shock in Sderot. One person was injured when he fell while running for a bomb shelter.

IDF forces scoured surrounding communities for missile fragments following the alarms. Initial reports indicate that no missiles hit the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council.

An IDF spokesman said two rockets had been intercepted and a third had fallen in an open field in the Eshkol Regional Council.

The latest attempts to attack Israel with rockets appear to be a continuation of similar incidents since the announcement by US president Donald Trump that the American embassy will be moved to Jerusalem, in compliance with American law. Trump also officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Last week, sirens sounded in the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council in the northwestern Negev, with an IDF spokesman explaining that two rocket launches had been identified with both falling inside the Gaza Strip.
