‘Is the UN holding my son?’ – Mother of hostage kidnapped by UNRWA worker

“How can a social worker for an organization that claims to promote good in this world do something so cruel and inhumane?” asks victim’s mother.

The mother of an Israeli man murdered on October 7th, whose body was kidnapped by an UNRWA employee, slammed the United Nations in a press conference on Wednesday evening.

Numerous employees of the UN’s UNRWA agency, which is meant to provide aid to Palestinians in Gaza, participated in the surprise onslaught. Many have been linked to the Hamas terror organization.

Jonathan Samerano, 22, fled from the Nova Festival – which was the site of the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust – and sought help in nearby Kibbutz Be’eri.

That kibbutz was also overrun by terrorists, and Samerano was shot and killed. Security footage from the kibbutz proved that an UNRWA employee, driving an official UN vehicle, then kidnapped Samerano’s body to the Gaza Strip.

“A UNRWA worker kidnapped my son’s body. How can a social worker for an organization that claims to promote good in this world do something so cruel and inhumane?” Ayelet Samerano, the victim’s mother, said during a press conference held by an umbrella group representing hostages’ families.

“How can the UN pay this man who dragged my son’s limp body on the ground, and then picked him up as if he was a trophy back to Gaza?”

Samerano stressed that as the body funding the agency, the UN must take responsibility for the atrocities committed by UNRWA employees.

“How many more lives have been ruined by this person hauling my son like he is not even a human being into a [UN] vehicle?” Samerano asked.

“Does the UN hold my son? Do they know where he is? Are there any other hostages held by UN employees even as we speak?”
