ISIS claims responsibility for London Bridge attack

ISIS claimed responsibility for the London Bridge attack, the third to strike at the UK in less than three months.

The Islamic State (ISIS) terror group on Sunday claimed responsibility for the latest Islamic terror attack to strike Britain.

“A detachment of Islamic State fighters executed yesterday’s London attack,” ISIS’ Amaq news agency stated.

Three terrorists rammed a van into pedestrians on London Bridge and stabbed others nearby on Saturday night, killing seven and wounding some 50, 21 of them critically, before police shot them dead.

ISIS, losing its grip in Syria and Iraq as the US-led coalition advances, sent out a call on the Telegram messaging service on Saturday calling on its supporters to carry out attacks with trucks, knives and guns against “Crusaders” during the Muslim month of Ramadan.

London’s police chief said the terrorists have been identified, but the names have not been released.

British security forces continued their race against time to catch accomplices and thwart the next attack, as 12 people were arrested by police on Sunday after searches in east London.

Prime Minister Theresa May warned that the country faced a new threat from copycat attacks.

This latest attack was the third Islamic terror attack in Britain in less than three months.

Britain has recently experienced a string of Islamic terror attacks, the latest being a suicide bombing that killed 22 people, including children, at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. ISIS claimed responsibility for this attack as well.

In March, ISIS claimed that Khalid Massood, who attacked parliament and pedestrians on Westminster Bridge and murdered five, was sent by them.
