ISIS suicide bombing plot foiled in northern Israel

Israeli police and counter-terror operatives recently foiled a suicide bombing plot in northern Israel tied to the Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization.

On Thursday morning, the Israel Police and the Shin Bet security agency issued a joint statement revealing that several weeks ago, a 15-year-old ISIS terrorist from northern Israel was arrested while preparing to carry out a suicide bombing attack.

The suspect was found to be in contact with “terrorist elements,” and was detained for questioning by police and the Shin Bet.

During his interrogation, it emerged that the suspect had pledged allegiance to ISIS.

In addition, authorities discovered that the suspect had obtained detailed instructions for manufacturing a suicide explosive belt.

It was also revealed during the investigation that as part of his contacts with ISIS terrorists abroad, the suspect took “concrete steps to prepare himself to carry out an attack,” police and the Shin Bet said.

Furthermore, the investigation found that the suspect had expressed support for previous terror attacks against the State of Israel, alongside wishes for its destruction. He also took part in extremist discourse against members of other religions, including Christians and Muslims who do not share his radical worldview.

The police department and Shin Bet warned that since the outbreak of the war in 2023, there has been an increase in the threat posed by ISIS and its supporters within Israel.

“The Israel Security Agency, together with the Israel Police and all law enforcement bodies, will continue to act decisively against any security-related activity that endangers the security of the State of Israel.”

The Haifa District Prosecutor’s Office is scheduled to file an indictment later Thursday against the teenage suspect.
