Israel bombs Houthi ports, ballistic missile sites

While en route to Washington, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu orders airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen ahead of ballistic missile attacks on Israel.

Israeli warplanes bombed dozens of targets in Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen overnight, the IDF said Monday, ahead of ballistic missile attacks on Israel.

Overnight, roughly 20 Israel Air Force fighter jets struck Houthi ballistic missile sites, ports, and other infrastructure including power stations, an army spokesperson said.

More than 50 aerial munitions were used against Houthi ports in Hudaydah, Ras Isa, and Al-Salif, as well as against the Ras Kantib power station.

“Israeli Air Force fighter jets, guided by intelligence from the Intelligence Directorate and the Navy, struck and destroyed terrorist infrastructure of the Houthi terror regime,” the IDF said.

“Among the targets attacked were the ports of Hudaydah, Ras Isa, and Al-Salif.”

Israel has accused the Houthis of using the ports to receive weapons shipments from Iran, including ballistic missiles used in attacks on Israel.

Among the terror targets struck at the Ras Isa port was the commercial vessel Galaxy Leader, which the Houthi regime seized in November 2023.

Houthi forces installed a radar system on the ship and have been using it to track vessels in international waters to support their operations, Israel has said.

In addition to the strikes on Houthi ports, the Ras Kantib power station was attacked, the IDF said, due to its use by the Houthi regime for supplying electricity to terrorist operations.

“It served as a significant electricity supply infrastructure for Houthi military activity, and represents yet another example of how the Houthi terror regime uses civilian infrastructure for terrorism,” the IDF said.

According to a report by The Times of Israel which cited an official in the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the strikes while on board the Wing of Zion en route to Washington.

Following the Israeli airstrikes, two ballistic missiles were launched by Houthi forces in Yemen, setting off warning sirens in Judea and the Dead Sea region of Israel.

No causalities or damage were reported in the attacks.
