Israel bombs ‘significant’ terror target in response to rocket fire

In an occurrence that has become almost a daily routine, IAF fighters bombed a Hamas target in Gaza in response to rocket fire.

Israel Air Force (IAF) fighter jets targeted a “significant terror infrastructure” in the Gaza Strip Wednesday night in response to three rockets fired at southern Israeli communities throughout the day from Gaza.

The three rockets fired by the terrorists exploded in an open space, causing no injuries or damage.

“The IDF will continue to use all means to thwart attempts to attack the citizens of Israel,” an IDF spokesman stated. “The IDF will not allow any breach of Israeli sovereignty or any hostile attempts by terror organizations such as Hamas, and remains prepared for a wide variety of scenarios.”

Incidents of rocket fire have become almost a common occurrence in recent weeks. Over 30 rockets were fired over the past month, close to the total number launched since the summer of 2014.

The last attack occurred on Monday night.

The IDF estimates that the rockets fired in recent weeks were launched by terror groups other than Hamas. However, Israel holds Hamas, which rules the Strip, accountable for all attacks.

The IDF believes that Hamas is enabling the rocket fire, launched by small terror groups, on orders from Tehran, which is seeking to create friction in the area.

Minister of Transportation and Intelligence Yisrael Katz warned of looming escalation in the violence. The small terrorist organizations generating the friction “can cross a line,” Katz told IDF Radio on Thursday, bringing to a full blown conflict that neither Israel no Hamas, at this time, are interested in.

He said that Israel is not attacking “mounds of sand. Hamas knows where we are hitting them.”
