Israel experiences mild earthquake

Israel experienced a mild earthquake on Wednesday night.

Israel was lightly shaken by a mild earthquake on Wednesday night.

Civilians reported experiencing the seismic activity from the northern tip of the country all the way to Be’er Sheva in the south.

The epicenter of the tremor, which measured 5.4 on the Richter scale, was in Crete.

There were no reports of any casualties or damage in Israel or Crete.

Seismologist Emmanuel M. Scordilis of the University of Thessaloniki told The Associated Press that “quakes of this medium range depth usually have weak aftershock activity.”

Earthquakes are common in Italy, Greece and neighboring Turkey.
