Israel fast-tracks immigration from countries facing antisemitism spike

Israel has approved an extensive immigration initiative aimed at attracting new arrivals from Western countries where antisemitic incidents have surged sharply since 2022, Ynet reports.

Ministers endorsed the program on Tuesday as part of what officials described as an urgent national response to the steep rise in threats facing Jewish communities abroad.

The decision, titled “Nevertheless – Aliyah of Renewal,” focuses on four countries reporting dramatic increases in antisemitism: France, Britain, Canada and Australia.

Data presented by the Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism Ministry, alongside figures from the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency, show that antisemitic cases jumped by 562% in Canada, 450% in Britain, 350% in France, and 387% in Australia between 2022 and 2025.

At the same time, immigration inquiries climbed, with applications up 384% in France and 218% in Britain, though officials note that the number of actual arrivals remains considerably lower.

The plan combines pre-immigration support, streamlined bureaucracy, and financial assistance during the first years in Israel.

New immigrants arriving in 2026 will receive a monthly adjustment grant for 12 months without needing to show a rental contract. Individuals and elderly immigrants will receive 2,300 shekels; families with up to two children, 2,900 shekels; and families with three or more children, 3,400 shekels.

The dedicated budget for this portion of the plan is roughly 170 million shekels for 2026–27.

For the longer term, the plan offers rental support of 3,000 shekels per month for families moving to northern and southern regions, Judea and Samaria, and Haifa.

Additional provisions include expanded Hebrew-language instruction, new educational guidance programs, extra academic support, and potential dedicated schools for immigrants from the affected countries.
