Israel issues Passover warning: Iran planning attacks on Diaspora Jews and Israeli tourists

Israel’s National Security Council warns Israelis abroad that Iran and its terrorist proxies are plotting to strike Israeli and Jewish targets around the world, advises Israelis to take special precautions around Passover holiday season.

Israel’s National Security Council (NSC) has issued a terror warning to Israelis traveling abroad, citing a heightened risk of attacks linked to the ongoing war with Iran and calling for heightened vigilance during the upcoming holiday season.

The NSC cited multiple terrorist attacks and attempted attacks over the past few weeks targeting Israelis and Jewish communities overseas.

These incidents, attributed to Iran, its proxies, and individuals inspired by Tehran, have included the planting of bombs in synagogues in Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as a foiled plot against a synagogue in the United States.

The NSC warned that the Iranian regime and its allies are expected to intensify efforts to carry out attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets abroad, particularly during periods of large public gatherings.

With the Passover festival set to begin next week, alongside other spring holidays such as Shavuot, Israeli Memorial Day, and Israeli Independence Day, the NSC warned that large concentrations of Israelis overseas could present attractive targets for both organized terrorist networks and lone wolf attackers.

In light of the war with Iran and heightened terrorist threat, the NSC urged Israelis worldwide to exercise caution when in public.

Among its key recommendations, the council advised against attending unsecured or public Passover events and warned specifically about participation in gatherings associated with Israeli or Jewish institutions in countries bordering Iran, including Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, and Gulf states such as the United Arab Emirates.

The advisory also highlighted increased risks in parts of Asia, particularly Thailand and the Philippines, where travelers were urged to remain vigilant.

Travel to the Sinai Peninsula was strongly discouraged, except for brief transit through Taba Airport. Israelis were also advised to prioritize travel through Ben Gurion Airport when entering or leaving the country, and to limit time spent in Egypt or Jordan if transiting through Taba or Aqaba airports.

Additionally, the NSC recommended avoiding flights that connect through countries designated with the highest-level travel warnings.

The council also advised Israeli travelers not to share real-time location details on social media, to stay away from unsecured Israeli or Jewish sites, and to remain alert in areas associated with Jewish or Israeli presence, such as synagogues, Chabad houses, and community centers.
