Israel pledges $11 million for future of Judea and Samaria

The Israeli government approved the transfer of funds to bolster security in Judea and Samaria, areas that frequently sustain Palestinian terror attacks.

Residents of Judea and Samaria notched a victory on Wednesday when the Israeli government approved the transfer of more than $11 to regional councils in the area.

The government allocated the majority of this support to strengthen security measures, with the remainder to be used for first aid stations and additional staff.

While critics of the transfer accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of engaging in a quid pro quo with religious Zionist factions to garner support in the face of corruption investigations, a government spokesperson denied the connection existed. “This proposal is something that we deal with towards the end of every year. Last year, we had a similar discussion on December 29, 2016,” responded the spokesperson.

Earlier in the year, the Israeli government passed a measure allocating a significant sum to construct safer roads in Judea and Samaria, which are used by Israelis and Palestinian Authority vehicles alike.

In March, the government approved the transfer of over $7 million to improve public transportation and replace bulletproof school buses, which are required due to attacks mounted by Palestinian terrorists.
