Israeli officials announced on Thursday that an indictment of Mustafa Khaled Awad, a 36-year-old terror suspect, would be filed Thursday morning.

Awad, a Palestinian from southern Lebanon, was arrested in July when tried to enter Israel via the Allenby Crossing from Jordan, the Shin Bet security service announced Wednesday.

While Awad resided in Belgium, he is suspected of belonging to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), one of the Palestinian terror organizations that advocates attacking the State of Israel instead of a negotiated peace settlement.

PFLP members have perpetrated dozens of terror attacks against Israelis throughout the world, including murdering Israeli tourism minister Rechavam Ze’evi in 2001.

Awad is accused of being active in the PFLP since 2010, training in Lebanon with Hezbollah and facilitating a terror funding network running from the PFLP in Syria and Lebanon to operatives in Europe.

“The investigation proves the threat posed by terror groups that bring in to their ranks people with foreign passports, which allows them to enter the State of Israel,” the Shin Bet said, according to a Times of Israel report.

“[We] will continue to thwart the threats posed by terror groups operating abroad against the State of Israel,” the Shin Bet added.

While the PFLP claims to be a Marxist organization, it has ties with the Hezbollah and the world’s top state-sponsor of terror Iran.
