Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot, who serves as Chief of General Staff of the IDF, arrived in the United States on Thursday to meet with US military and defense officials.

Topping Eisenkot’s agenda are discussions related to “military cooperation in the face of significant defense challenges in the different regions of the Middle East,” the army stated.

Israel is currently addressing challenges from a number of Iranian terror proxies on various fronts, facing Hamas-led riots, arson terror, and rocket attacks emanating from Gaza in addition to the Hezbollah terror group on its northern border with Lebanon.

In Syria, the Iranian regime has positioned military personnel and assets, which have increasingly come under fire from Israeli air strikes. Israel has repeatedly declared that an Iranian military presence in Syria crosses a red line it will not tolerate.

Eisenkot’s talks will presumably also address the intensification of armed conflict in southwest Syria, where Russia is aiding Syrian dictator Bashar Assad’s forces in clashes with rebels that have sent tens of thousands fleeing to the Israeli border for safety.

While in Washington, Eisenkot will be the guest of Gen. Joseph Dunford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
