Israeli company can ‘gett’ you a cab from London to Dubai

An Israeli-founded service can get you a ride to the airport and a taxi waiting for you upon arrival at your destination – all in the same order.

Gett, a ride-hailing service founded in 2010 by Israeli entrepreneurs Shahar Waiser and Roi More, is developing a new service that lets business clients hail a taxi to the airport, input their flight number and then book a ride that will be waiting for them when they land at their destination – all within the same order, Globes reported.

Waiser came up with the idea for the company, originally known as GetTaxi, nine years ago while waiting 30 for a cab to the airport in Palo Alto, California.

The beta version began operating in Tel Aviv in the summer of 2011, and the service was launched in London in August 2011.

Anton Macius, Gett’s UK head of product and development and its global head of professional services, referred to the new app as a feature for multi-international journey management, stating it is still under development, according to Globes.

Volkswagen is the company’s biggest investor, following a $300 million investment in 2016, the report said.

Gett’s service is offered in several countries, including Israel.

The company gives 100 million rides a year and “generates around $1 billion in mobility services,” Stockholm-listed venture capital firm Vostok New Ventures Ltd., which holds a 5.6% stake in Gett, stated in August, Globes reported.
