Defense Minister Liberman praised the “readiness, determination and professionalism” of the IDF’s Northern Corps in a simulated exercise of escalation near Israel’s northern border.
Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, after watching the IDF’s Northern Corps conduct a military exercise known as “Or Hadagan,” said that Israel is prepared to achieve a decisive victory in any future conflict.
“This exercise is a reminder to anyone who plans to endanger the security of Israeli citizens that the next confrontation, if it breaks out, will end in a clear decisive victory for the IDF and the State of Israel,” Liberman asserted.
The Or Hadagan exercise simulates an escalation of conflict near Israel’s northern border.
Israel has shown increased concern of late regarding the establishment of an Iranian-backed “Shiite corridor” to Israel’s north. Liberman, who expressed praise for what he said was the Corps’ “readiness, determination and professionalism,” remains very confident in the IDF’s ability to neutralize any security threat from the north.
“The only thing that will prevent the next war is the IDF’s strength and its power of deterrence,” Lieberman stated. “I have no doubt that we, and specifically the entire region, see and understand the IDF’s capabilities and strength.”
The Israeli defense minister also warned Syria against threatening Israel at a ceremony on Monday in the Galilee region for fallen Bedouin soldiers.
“I strongly suggest to our neighbors from the north not to try and provoke or threaten us because we take these threats seriously,” Liberman said. “I advise against entering into a confrontation with Israel. It will end badly for them, very badly.”
Liberman made his remarks on Monday in response to comments made by Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad over the weekend. Speaking to the pan-Arabic television outlet of Al-Mayadeen, Mekdad claimed that Israel would “pay a heavy price” for conducting a number of reported military operations in Syria that have largely targeted the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah.
