Ariel Freiman, 56, was hiking with his wife, son and friends when he fell from a cliff.

An Israeli who was on a trip in India was killed on Tuesday during a trek in the Himalayas. He reportedly slipped from a cliff and fell to his death.

The family had difficulty alerting rescue teams and only managed to do so after reaching an area with cell phone reception.

The Israeli embassy in India is aiding the family, and efforts are focused on completing procedures to transfer the body back to Israel.
