Israeli hospital hit by Iranian ballistic missile

At least 23 ballistic missiles launched from Iran in latest volley, with direct hits reported across the country, including on a hospital in the south.

Iran launched at least 23 missiles towards Israel Thursday morning in the latest in a series of attacks on Israeli cities, with hits reported in multiple locations across the country.

Warning sirens were activated across Israel after nearly two dozen missile launches were detected at 7:03 a.m. Israel time, marking a return to large-scale volleys following several days of smaller attacks.

Emergency first responders reported major damage to a building struck by a ballistic missile in the city of Holon in central Israel, with rescue teams searching the area for causalities.

Thus far, paramedics have treated 16 people at the scene in Holon, including 3 in serious condition, 1 in moderate condition, and 12 who were lightly injured.

A direct hit was also reported in southern Israel, after a ballistic missile slammed into Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba.

Hospital staff are working to ascertain if any casualties were sustained in the strike.

Officials from the hospital have urged the public not to approach the building, warning it suffered significant damage in the attack.

Police have evacuated the upper floor of the hospital building, amid fears of a hazardous materials leak following the missile impact.

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir (Otzma Yehudit) called those responsible for the attack “Nazis.”

“Nazis who launch missiles at hospitals, the elderly, and children—if they had nuclear weapons, they would fire them without even thinking for a second. This is the most just war Israel has ever fought in its history.”

A third hit was reported in the central Israeli city of Ramat Gan, causing damage to the Bursa diamond exchange.

Thus far, the Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency response group has reported treating more than 30 people injured across the country in the latest wave of missile strikes.

Four other hits were detected throughout Israel, with seven total impacts reported.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog responded to the attack on Soroka Thursday in a statement released via X.

“A baby in intensive care. A mother by their bedside. A doctor rushing between beds. An elderly resident in a nursing home,” Herzog wrote.

“These were some of the targets of Iran’s missile attacks on Israeli civilians this morning.”

“In moments like these, we are reminded of what’s truly at stake, and the values we are defending.”
