Israeli opposition leader suffers mild stroke

Member of Knesset Isaac Herzog experienced a mild stroke with no permanent damage.

Member of Knesset Isaac Herzog, Israel’s opposition leader and chairman of the Zionist Union political party, was hospitalized on Friday evening at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv after feeling ill.

Herzog, brought to the emergency room by his wife Michal, underwent a series of tests, after which it was determined that he had likely suffered a mild stroke.

Doctors say there was no permanent damage. He was released on Saturday.

Herzog, 56, has not experienced such episodes in the past.

Herzog tweeted shortly after the news broke that he was in good health, expressing his hope to be back at work as soon as possible.
