Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee have signaled that military action against Iran could resume soon, while stressing the importance of coordination between Jerusalem and Washington as diplomatic efforts continue.
Katz said Israel’s campaign against Iran is “far from over” and warned that future operations could involve more severe strikes than those carried out previously.
He said Israel has already identified potential targets and remains prepared to act.
According to Katz, Israel is awaiting a “green light from the United States” before carrying out attacks against Iran’s central energy infrastructure and senior leadership.
The defense minister said any renewed military operation would involve “different and deadly” attacks.
Huckabee also addressed the possibility of further confrontation with Iran, stating that the United States remains committed to preventing Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
The ambassador responded to a social media post from Fox featuring the headline “Trump says the US will strike Iran very hard again today” with the comment, “Things are going to get spicy in the neighborhood soon.”
During the recent escalation earlier in the week, Huckabee tweeted from a Jerusalem bomb shelter that Tehran wants to “incinerate America and Israel.”
“Iran fired missiles at Israel last night and early today. The missile alerts sounded at 6am in Jerusalem. They were intercepted thank God!” he tweeted.
“Iran and its proxy agents of evil want to incinerate America and Israel. Mothership of Satan is in Tehran,” he added.
About an hour later, the ambassador reported that he had taken shelter as additional alerts sounded.
“In the shelter now. Hearing loud booms overhead. Hopefully it’s the interception. Another day we live under threat of crazed Iranian regime,” he wrote.
