Expressing frustration over the stalled peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, US Secretary of State John Kerry also appeared to equate Palestinian terror with Israeli construction.
US Secretary of State John Kerry expressed frustration over the lack of progress in the diplomatic process between Israel and the Palestinians.
A statement from Kerry’s office said he met Palestinian Authority (PA) head Mahmoud Abbas in New York on Monday to discuss “our shared goal of a two state solution.”
It said Kerry voiced “concern over trends on the ground, including the recent surge in violence and settlement activity,” seemingly equating Palestinian terror attacks with Israeli construction in Judea and Samaria.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault hosted a closed meeting Monday at the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly for officials from the countries that attended France’s June Middle East peace conference in Paris.
Kerry reportedly said during the meeting that there was no justification for the Palestinian terror attacks, but also not for Israeli construction in Judea and Samaria.
He said such construction would lead to the reality of one state, and that it is a recipe for propagating the conflict.
