On Monday, The Knesset, Israel’s parliament, approved in a first reading legislation introduced by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the imposing of minimum prison sentences on terrorists who throw rocks and firebombs and any other harmful objects at Israelis.
A vote is slated to be held on draft legislation proposing the imposition of fines on the parents of minors who participate in terror activities.
Previously, the law allowed a minor to be sent to jail or the parents could be fined, but the new legislation would allow both penalties simultaneously.
“This legislation which I initiated is one of the measures adopted by the Cabinet in the framework of the fight against terrorism. There will be additional measures,” stated Prime Minister Netanyahu after the vote.
Israel’s Cabinet unanimously approved Netanyahu’s proposals on Sunday, together with other security measures to combat the wave of Palestinian terror that has been plaguing the country in past weeks.
